HMND 01 Alpha Wheeled humanoid robot

Overview

HMND 01 Alpha Wheeled is the wheeled-base variant of HMND's 01 Alpha platform, developed by UK-based Humanoid (thehumanoid.ai). It shares the upper body and KinetIQ AI architecture of the bipedal version but uses a wheeled base for increased stability and payload in structured industrial environments. The robot has been tested at Schaeffler and Siemens facilities.

HMND 01 Alpha Wheeled stands 179 cm tall and weighs 90 kg with a dual-handed payload capacity of 15 kg, per HMND's official spec sheet at thehumanoid.ai. The upper body has 29 degrees of freedom excluding end-effectors. End-effectors are modular: operators can swap between a 12-DoF five-finger hand and a 1-DoF parallel gripper. Battery runtime is listed as 3–5 hours. The sensor suite includes RGB cameras, two depth sensors, LiDAR, ultrasonic sensors, IMU, gyroscope, and force sensors. The wheeled base replaces the bipedal legs of the Alpha Bipedal variant, providing greater stability for upper-body manipulation tasks in structured environments.

The robot runs on KinetIQ, HMND's proprietary AI framework with a four-layer cross-timescale architecture: System 3 (agentic fleet orchestrator), System 2 (VLM-based task planning), System 1 (VLA-based task execution at 5–10 Hz), and System 0 (RL-trained whole-body control). Compute is NVIDIA Jetson Thor. System 0 whole-body control was trained in simulation via online reinforcement learning, requiring approximately 15,000 hours of simulation experience, per HMND. The KinetIQ stack can control robots of different embodiments simultaneously from a single system.

HMND is a UK-based startup founded by Artem Sokolov and incorporated in 2024. Confirmed industrial proofs of concept include Bosch, Schaeffler, and Siemens. The wheeled variant has been tested at a Schaeffler facility using a pre-alpha unit, per HMND's own documentation. SAP Joule agent integration has been demonstrated in a live PoC, bridging KinetIQ to SAP enterprise AI. No public pricing has been confirmed. The robot is not available for general purchase as of mid-2026; HMND operates a Robot-as-a-Service model with fleet management software and 24/7 support.
