Newsletter subscriptions

When you subscribe to the Uncanny Intel newsletter, your email address is collected and stored via beehiiv (Lighthouse Labs, Inc., USA).

Purpose: To send you the newsletter you signed up for.

Legal basis: Your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), given at the point of subscription.

Retention: Until you unsubscribe. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email.

Website analytics

This website uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. This tool collects aggregated, non-identifiable data including page views, referral sources, country of origin, and bounce rate. No cookies are set, and no personal data is stored.

Purpose: To understand site performance and improve content.

Legal basis: Legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

If you contact me at contact@theuncannysquad.com, your email address and the content of your message will be processed solely to respond to your enquiry.

Purpose: To respond to your message.

Legal basis: Legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

Retention: Emails are kept for as long as necessary to resolve your enquiry and then deleted.

3. Third-party services

beehiiv

Newsletter subscriptions are managed by beehiiv (Lighthouse Labs, Inc., USA). Your email address is stored on beehiiv's servers. beehiiv acts as a data processor on my behalf under a Data Processing Agreement.

Vercel

This website is hosted and served by Vercel, Inc. (USA). Vercel processes request data (including IP addresses) as part of serving the site. Vercel Web Analytics is used for aggregated, cookieless analytics.

One image on this website is loaded directly from the Pexels CDN (Canva Pty Ltd). When your browser loads this image, your IP address is visible to Pexels as part of the standard request.

Some pages include links to share content on Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Facebook, and WhatsApp. These are standard links — no data is collected unless you click one, at which point you are taken to that platform and their privacy policy applies.

Both beehiiv and Vercel are US-based companies. Data transfers to the USA are carried out on the basis of Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as approved by the European Commission.
